NaPoWriMo 2022 Day 7

First response to NaPoWriMo 2022 Day 7. Proverb used,” If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. “

If wishes were horses,
beggars would ride.
These horses would
probably gallop over untamed seas,
and fly across the sky; threatening both the birds and airplanes.
Aladdin’s magic lamp would such be a waste.
Who would pity the unemployed Genie then??

Second response to NaPoWriMo 2022 Day 7. Proverb used, ” Beauty is only skin deep. “

They say beauty is only skin deep.
Translucent immature epidermis and melanin must pose no threat to your inner beauty.
Carry a good heart,
sweet words,
a kind soul,
and you are good to go.
They also say
these darkest of dark circles and eye bags under your Chinese eyes make you look horrible among other coffee brown faces.
Their tongue runs naked after a fair-skinned, 5’6 tall girl with no shame.
Is beauty really only skin deep?
Then, why do extra inches of skin dangling and dancing around waistline concern them?

Written for NaPoWriMo 2022 Day 7. Today’s challenge is to write a poem that argues against, or somehow questions, a proverb or saying. They say that β€œall cats are black at midnight,” but really? Surely some of them remain striped. And maybe there is an ill wind that blows some good. Perhaps that wind just has some mild dyspepsia.
